Lodge Banquet
Aal-Pa-Tah's annual Lodge Banquet, held in January at Jupiter High School, provides a chance for everyone in the Lodge to receive recognition for what they have done over the years. At the Banquet, which has been held at Jupiter High School for years now, the Founders' Award, the James E. West award and the Lodge Advisor's Award are given out. Additionally, we take this chance to recognize our Lodge Officers, Lodge Chapter Chiefs and their Advisors. In between all of the awards there is a silent patch auction, a live patch auction and an ongoing raffle. This year the silent auction included over 100 patches, the live auction had about 150 more and there were many raffle items that were given out. At some point in all of this we have dinner which is always catered. Now you may be wondering, why are they at a high school and why the catering? The answer is simple, we want the Banquet to be a night of recognition and appreciation for everyone in the Lodge so by doing these things we allow everyone in the Lodge to sit back and relax.
Spring Powwow Weekend
Typically held in March, and always at Camp Tanah Keeta, the Spring Powwow features loads of seminars, powwow and fun. At the weekend we hold our Annual Hearts Tournament, exciting seminars, and much more. Best of all, on Saturday night is the powwow, where the Hitchiti dancers will sweep you off your feet. This event is always one of the best of the year.
Pig Roast / Turkey Fry
Each year, during the main annual Gulfstream Council event, our Lodge sets up a booth at the
show and serves roasted pig and fried turkey to anyone who walks by. This event is a lot of fun, it offers our Lodge a chance to show our Council what we are all about and is a great excuse to have good food.
Lodge Service Weekend
Our Lodge hosts a service weekend each year at the beginning of summer at Camp Tanah Keeta. The weekend is usually planned for the first weekend of summer camp staff week so that our Lodge can come out and help our summer camp staff prepare for start of camping. During the weekend OA members work on various camp improvement projects and other activities to prepare Tanah Keeta for the summer. These activities usually include setting up wall tents and helping in any area that the camp staff need help with. During the weekend, our Lodge also invites the summer camp staff to eat with us throughout the weekend. After working all day Saturday we hold our Lodge and Chapter elections. After the elections there is usually much fun to be had around camp for the rest of the night. The weekend offers our Council and our Camp a helping hand so that both may continue running for a long time to come.
Lodge Leadership Development Course
This event is required for all Officers, Chairmen and their Advisors, and any other Arrowmen are also invited. It offers every person in attendance a better understanding of how the Lodge operates and how to be a better leader in service.
Ordeal Weekends
To offer Scouts elected into our Lodge every chance to become a member, we typically host two Ordeal weekends over the course of the year. The first is typically before summer starts and is held alongside the Service Weekend, the second is held after summer has passed. During our Ordeal weekends the Lodge holds the various Ordeal ceremonies and a Brotherhood ceremony. The candidates show up and register at the welcome shelter and are grouped into clans as they arrive. After accumulating a certain number of people in a clan, the guides are assigned to the clan and the process begins. Saturday is filled with work projects for both candidates and Ordeal members that provide service to our camp and piece of mind for the people completing the Cheerful Service. After the work, everyone is given time to clean up and then the Ordeal ceremony is held with everyone in attendance. The rest of the weekend consists of New Member orientation and lots of fun.
Winter Fellowship
Out of all the weekends and events our Lodge has, this would have to be, as most members would say, the best. Winter Fellowship offers our Lodge a relaxed weekend at camp filled with Fellowship and fun. From the minute you register to the minute you leave Sunday morning you are actively engaged in a fun activity no matter what that activity is. At our last Winter Fellowship we also had a few seminars, various Chapter competitions, a powwow, and plenty of fun activities for anyone to partake in.
