Brotherhood

After 10 months of service and fulfilling certain requirements, a member may take part in the Brotherhood ceremony, which places further emphasis on the ideals of Scouting and the Order. Completion of this ceremony signifies full membership in the OA.

Good luck to you, my Brother.

Requirements

If you are ready to become a Brotherhood member, then there are four things that you need to do prior to the weekend:

  1. Write a letter to the Lodge Secretary, explaining how you will continue to serve the Lodge, your Unit, Scouting in general, and the community.
  2. Memorize the Obligation of the Order of the Arrow (see the document below).
  3. Memorize the Order of the Arrow Song (see the document below).
  4. Call the Council Office and tell them that you wish to register for Brotherhood. The fee for Brotherhood is $14, which covers the cost of your new sash. You can pay this $14 fee by phone with a Visa or MasterCard no later than the Tuesday before you plan to take the Brotherhood, or by cash or check by mail (which must be received by the Tuesday before you plan to take the Brotherhood); and of course, you can always pay the fee when you arrive on the Wednesday (June 25, July 2, July 9, or July 16 of 2008) to take your Brotherhood. (Note: your Lodge dues must also be current. If your dues are not paid up to 2008, then you must also pay $11 to update your Lodge dues through 2008)
