Order joins BSA's Journey to Excellence program

With the launch of its new strategic plan the Boy Scouts of America transitioned to a new program for unit, district, and council performance measurement and recognition – Journey to Excellence (JTE). You may have heard about it as the process is already underway.

Designed to encourage and reward success as well as measure the performance of units, districts and councils, The Journey to Excellence program replaces the old Centennial Quality Unit, Quality District, and Quality Council programs. JTE differs from those programs in that it focuses more on outcomes than processes and is designed to replace the old fixed performance standard represented by the Centennial Quality program with one that encourages continuous performance improvement. Ultimately, JTE is intended to encourage excellence at in providing quality program at all levels of the BSA.

In alignment with BSA's JTE prgrams, the same programs are now enacted in the Order of the Arrow - on the Section, Lodge and Chapter level! The advantage of this is that each chapter has a way to develop goals and measure success. If we have strong chapters, we have a strong Lodge. There are three levels of recognition, Bronze, Silver and Gold. If our chapters earn GOLD, the Lodge will earn GOLD.

The Lodge will utilize the JTE for Chapters, recognizing each chapter at each level. The highest scoring Chapter based on the JTE scorecard will receive the Best All Around Chapter recognition. The cycle for the chapters will coincide with the election cycle. Therefore, this year all JTE scorecards with documentation will need to be submitted at Summer Pow Wow. If you need assistance with this, please contact your Chapter Adviser.
